MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER
HOW DID YOU GET INTO PHOTOGRAPHY?
My grandpa owned two large wedding photography businesses for some notable hotels in Venezuela. My mother inherited the companies, but unfortunately with our move to the states she had to sell them. I believe the love of photography runs in my blood. I was exposed to photography at a young age and was able to develop my love of it through modeling, family business success, and my own passion in my adult life.
When my fiancé and I started AMG, I really wanted to showcase his career and the success of our team. I started with a $400 camera and realized it was “easy” enough to take a picture, but the emotions, story, and quality was a different story. I wasn’t able to capture my full idea and decided to step up my photography gear and education. I purchased several cameras since then and have talked to many equine photographers to help further my knowledge. I still feel I am learning and will always be learning. Similar to the sport we love so much, there is always an opportunity to learn. I try to take full advantage of educating myself every day to keep producing work that I am proud of and my clients love.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT WORKING WITH CLIENTS?
I truly appreciate the relationships I create with my clients and their horses. I think the best part about photography is getting to know who I’m working with and being able to capture who they are within my photographs. Each horse, just like each client, has a unique personality. It’s important to me to be able to portray the truest version of each individual in front of my camera. Aside from the physical shoots, I love being able to keep a connection with my clients that lasts. My goal is to create relationships where my clients feel just as much appreciated as I do when I work with them.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY?
I love that it goes hand in hand with the horses. Horses are my life. I understand them from a personal level, such as working with them daily at the farm, traveling to top level shows in the sport, and helping our clients become the best riders they can be. To me, that fact that I can combine my passion for photography and my love for the animals and the sport is an absolute dream come true.
WHAT IS PHOTOGRAPHY IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
A photographer once asked me the same question. I believe that photography is the act of capturing a moment. It’s not just about the overall image. When my clients look at their pictures, my goal is to delivery photographs that bring them right back to that moment. It’s all about transporting them back physically and emotionally.
WHAT DOES LIFE LOOK LIKE FOR YOU OUTSIDE OF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS?
My fiancé, Antonio Martinez, and I run a show jumping business together in Wellington, FL. AMG has several clients that we consider family. Our love for horses is something that we find in every hour of the day. We value our time with our family, friends, and our animals, including the best barn dog, Bella. We travel around the states and internationally for competition. Antonio competes at the top level of the sport, which gives us great experience and knowledge to share with our clients.
Our goal is to help our clients and their horses to become the best versions of themselves, individually and as a team.
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?
I really value being genuine with my clients. To me, it’s about the team. I wouldn’t be able to create art without the help and support of my clients. My clients are my art, I love to give back to them how they give to me. Whether it is adding in some extra photos, scheduling a second shoot because we just needed a few more shots, or it’s simply being there for them when they need someone to capture their favorite moments.
Every photographer has their own unique style. In my eyes, I really see that as an advantage for the whole photography community. I enjoy reaching out to fellow photographers for input or advice and always have my door open for others who want the same from me.
Additionally, I feel that my experience with horses and my experience working in front of the camera really helps me to understand what my clients need. I know it can be intimidating to work with a photographer. My experience as a model helps me to make the shoots fun, light, and something you will remember forever. I try to view my company from a customers perspective. This really came into play when I was deciding on pricing, packages, and the motto of my business. My goal is to make this experience for you as comfortable, exciting, and memorable as it is for me.
